Esoteric Agenda (2008)
Esoteric Agenda is a video by Ben Stewart, lead singer of Hierosonic, an alt-rock, electro-pop band, apparently created in 2002 and active between 2009 and 2013, based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The video makes claims of a secret agenda being carried out by a shadowy elite and attempts to ready the public for an alleged new world order coming 21 December 2012, synchronizing with the Mayan calendar.
Clearly past it's stale date, this "documentary" is yet another example of wilful apophenia. Benjamin Stewart (a.k.a. Stewart Benjamin) and Dan Stewart, also produced UnGrip (2011) and Kymatica (2009). Their website, knowledgeoftoday.org, promotes a conspiratorial interpretation of world events, and includes Freemasonry and the Illuminati under the catagory of New World Order. In their own words:
"Esoteric Agenda exposes different aspects of the Establishment or New World Order. It deals with population reduction, 9/11, 21th December 2012 (ancient prophecies), gulf war, masonic symbols, pagan religions and their connection with all modern religions, such as Christianity and Islam. And in the end of the documentary, there is a part that deals with spirituality, the real meaning of life, and how nature works, according to the ultimate oneness!
"
Apophenia is defined as seeing meaningful connections between unrelated things, while pareidolia is defined as seeing visual or audio patterns in random stimuli. Ben Stewart has taken a random collection of events, dates, philosophies, and images, to create a narrative that has little foundation in reality. One would have to actually endure over two hours of this video to, perhaps, discover the intended meaning of the distorted "H" shape in the opening title card.
Esoteric Agenda (2008). Directed by Benjamin Stewart with appearances by discredited epigeneticist, Dr Bruce Lipton, and neo-nazi, white supremacist, Henrik Palmgren. USA, English, 2008, 126 min.
