HENRY JOSIAH DE FOREST
HISTORY INDEX
Henry J. DeForest was born at Rothesay in 1860 and educated at Sackville. He studied at the South Kensington School of Art in London and at the Julién Acadamy in Paris. Afterwards he sketched his way through Europe and spent some years in Australia. Returning to Canada, he settled first in Vancouver, later moved to Banff, and died in Calgary in 1924. He is represented in the Auckland Art Gallery, and some of his work is held by the British Columbia Society of Fine Arts.
