Born in Ayr, Scotland where he joined Freemasonry, James Harvey McKergow immigrated to Canada and worked as a chartered accountant.

For his services to Freemasonry in Washington State — specifically his support of Walter F. Meier Lodge of Research No. 281, in Seattle where he served as Worshipful Master for the 1958-1959 masonic year —the Grand Lodge of Washington elected him Honourary Past Grand Master in 1956.

Returning to homeland, MW Bro. McKergow died in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1966.
