Born in St, Louis, Missouri, October 7, 1883, Alexander Malcolm Manson's family came to Ontario in 1889. After taking his law degree, he opened the first law office in Prince Rupert. He was later elected as a Member of the Provincial Legislature from 1916 to 1935, serving as Speaker for two sessions, and provincial Attorney-General and Minister of Labour from 1922 to 1928. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court in 1935.
