[Stephen Jones]
1869 - October 3, 1933
"Stephen Jones was born in Clinton, Huron County, Ontario in 1869. The family came to Victoria in 1872, where he went to the old Boys Central School. His father established the Dominion Hotel on Yates Street. From school he assisted his father in that hotel and also in the International Hotel at Esquimalt. After his father's death the conduct of the hotels fell on him. He was a prominent member of the Victoria Board of Trade, of which he became President. He was one of the early members of Rotary and a charter member of the Uplands Golf Club. He died at Victoria on October 3, 1933 and was buried on October 5 under Masonic auspices. He was a member of Victoria Columbia Lodge No. l and was W.M. of his Mother Lodge in 1911."
