A fortune teller asks McGill: "What do you prefer, tarot, the zodiac, beans, tea leaves, palmestry? Or spirits... the dearly departed ones?" while McGill runs his hand over a brass square and compasses emblem. [00:15:40]
This inclusion of a masonic emblem may reflect the transition in popular representations of Freemasonry from an earlier sense of esoteric mystery to a more mundane focus on conspiracy—or the set dresser may simply have simply used what objects came to hand in the prop department.
