April 9, 1866 - March 17, 1936
Arriving from Birmingham, England in April of 1888, Charles Tisdall served as Vancouver mayor for 1922-23.
Tisdall has been the only mayor selected under a system of proportional representation, in which the candidate for city council getting the most votes became mayor. He had earlier served as a Conservative MLA, a Parks Board member for 15 years, and an alderman, and died in office while again serving as an alderman.
Grand Master for 1923-1924, Tisdall is interred in the masonic section of Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, where his marker displays the symbol of a Grand Master.
