History
For the purpose of providing a centralized masonic agency to assist in problems of the sojourner in Vancouver, a Masonic Board of Relief was organized on April 15, 1897.
This organization later became known as the Vancouver Masonic Service Bureau with all the lodges in the Vancouver area becoming supporting members. The rapid expansion of the City brought Master Masons from all parts of the world.
To meet our masonic obligations and to maintain a standard established in the larger cities of this continent the Bureau maintains a full-time staff, well-skilled in social work and capable of carrying out the duties as required in serving sojourning members and their families.
Thousands of cases have been handled since the Bureau was organized, providing a service to the Craft, near and far, without the problem of either duplication of effort or of neglect.
