Inherit the Wind (1960)
Spencer Tracy, plays Henry Drummond, a thinly-veiled Clarance Darrow, while Fredric March plays Matthew Harrison Brady, the historical William Jennings Bryan. Of peripheral interest to freemasons is this erroneous reference to Archbishop Ussher’s computation of the date of creation.
Brady: "A fine biblical scholar, Bishop Ussher, has determined for us the exact date and hour of the creation. It occurred in the year 4004 BC"
Drummond: "Well, uh, that’s Bishop Ussher’s opinion."
Brady: "Not an opinion. It’s a literal fact, which the good Bishop arrived at through careful computation of the ages of the Prophets as set down in the Old Testement. In fact he determined that the Lord began the creation on the 23rd of October, 4004 BC at, um, nine a.m.." [01:50:35]
