Elementals (1984)
Created by writer and artist, Bill Willingham, the character Freemason appeared in three issues of the comic book series Elementals, published by Comico.
There is some online confusion about the publishing dates and Freemason's first appearance. Elementals Issue 1 "Off to see the Wizard" is dated 1 March 1989, claiming to be the "all-new first issue!" The first appearance of Freemason was either in this issue or in the pages of Elementals Issue 20, "Supernature Summit", Part four of the Gathering (October 1991). In this issue, Freemason dies in battle. His first appearance has also been credited to Elementals Issue 26, "Bridge over the River Acheron" (1 April 1993).
Another two men later appear with the title and powers of Freemason in Elementals: Ghost of a Chance, issue 1 (1 December 1995) and issue 1 of Elementals: How The War Was Won (1 June 1996)
"Bill Willingham never finished the series and was replaced by another writer before the end. Comico's publisher Andrew Rev purchased the Elementals property from Willingham in the 1990s and the character Freemason has not been used in publication since that time." [1]
