R.B. Bennett
[Vicount Richard Bedford Bennett]
July 3, 1870 - June 26, 1947
Lawyer and one time president of the Canadian Bar Association, Vicount Richard Bedford Bennett was elected as an MLA in the Northwest Territories in 1901 and MLA in Alberta from 1909 to 1911. He served as a Conservative MP from 1911 to 1917, and again from 1925 to 1938, holding the office of Prime Minister from July 28, 1930 until 1935.

Bennett, A Biography, Ernest Watkins, Toronto : Kingswood House, 1963 [p. 240]. reports "In the early hours of the morning of June 26th... he died in his sleep...." The Canada Press wire service reported on Friday June 27 that he had "died in his bath on Thursday night" [the 26th].
