A visit to the Lodge in Barkerville
Submitted by Tyler Baldwin
Originally founded in 1866 and dedicated the next year this is the third lodge in this town. The first two burned down. It is one of 3 privately owned buildings in Barkerville out of approximately 130.
This building is from the 1930s and designed on the outside to look like the original. It is on the main street of Barkerville. They tile on the 2nd Saturday of the month and recess in Jan and Feb.
Brother James Douglas was my host and was very kind showing my family and I around this historic lodge.
The original members - this was taken before the construction of the first lodge! They tiled in a local saloon.
