Palmer Cox entry in Who’s Who

COX, Palmer, author and artist; b. Granby, Que., 28 April, 1840; 5th s. of Michael Cox, farmer, and pensioner of the English army; unmarried. Educ.: Granby Academy; went to California, 1863; followed railroading, contracting, etc.; wrote for newspapers; came to New York, 1875; took up writing and illustrating for children’s magazines, and also humorous books. Publications: Squibs of Everyday Life, 1874; Hans Von Pelter’s trip to Gotham, 1878; How Columbus found America, 1878; That Stanley, 1878; The Brownies, their Book, 1887; Queer People with Wings and Stings, 1888; Comic Yarns. (revision of Squibs), 1888; another Brownies Book, 1890; Brownies at Home, 1893; Brownies around the World, 1894; Palmer Cox’s Brownies, a spectacular play in three acts, 1894; The Brownies In Fairyland, a musical cantata, 1894; Brownies through the Union, 1895; Brownies abroad, 1899; Brownies in the Philippines, 1904; Palmer’s Cox’s Brownie Primer, 1906.
