National Treasure (2004). fig. 1.
A medallion held by a Templar knight [00:04:01]. Also seen in the movie trailer. The medallion imagery includes the all-seeing eye of Providence and an incomplete pyramid of eleven steps, rather than the thirteen found on the USA seal reverse. Although such masonic symbols as the square and compasses, open book and hourglass are depicted, the use of six stars rather than seven is noteworthy, as is the anachronistic depiction of the square and compasses with the two points of the compasses above the square. The significance of the globe overlaid by what may be a pickaxe is undetermined. There is no historical justification in linking any of these symbols to the Templars.

Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Plummer, Jon Voight. Directed by Jon Turteltaub, written by Ted Elliott, E. Max Frye. USA, English. Colour, Stereo. 131 min (Adventure). *
