Magnum P.I. (1980)
Tom Selleck, as Thomas S. Magnum, wears a ring displaying a Patriarchal Cross [00:14:57]. Although the crossbars are not uniformly spaced, usage has not always been consistent and it could be intended for a Cross Lorraine. But it is not a Knights Templar or masonic ring.
A similar ring is used in the 1942 film Casablanca where it is intended to represent the Cross Lorraine as used by the Free French.
Within the story, the "team ring" is a symbol of Magnum's friendship shared with his army buddies Rick "Orville" Wright (Larry Manetti) and Theodore "T.C." Calvin (Roger E. Mosley). Written by Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson, the pilot episode, "Don't eat the snow in Hawaii" (12/11/1980) has further details. The 119 page revised first draft script for the two-hour tv pilot, dated Dec. 1979, describes the characters and their backstory, but details are unavailable.

"No More Mr. Nice Guy" Season 4. Episode 13 (073). Written by Nick Thiel. Directed by Michael Vejar. Created By Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson. Tom Selleck, Kathleen Lloyd, John Hillerman, Roger E. Mosley, Larry Manetti, Sal Viscuso. Original air date 01/26/84. The cover art for the Videolog release prominently displays the same cross.
