While cleaning out his office, advertising agency senior partner, Roger Sterling, pulls a ceremonial trowel with a masonic square and compasses design out of a packing box, and asks account executive, Peggy Olson (played by Elisabeth Moss): "Know any Freemasons?" She laughs and the conversion moves to other topics [00:34:10]. The intention of the remark is unclear since Sterling is not noted as being a freemason in earlier episodes. While not exactly a role model of high character, Sterling is a highly-regarded father figure and might be expected to be a freemason.
