MASONIC BIOGRAPHIES
FAMOUS FREEMASONS
THE ROSICRUSIANS
Johannes Valentin Andreæ
[Johannes Valentin Andreae]
August 17, 1586 - June 27, 1654
Protestant theologian, teacher, church reformer and abbot, Andreae claimed in his autobiography to have published one of the founding texts of the modern rosicrucian movement, The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, as a lampoon.
Andreae was neither a Freemason nor associated with early Freemasonry, but The Chemical Wedding and other hermetic writings did have a later influence on a few additional degrees such as the modern 28th degree in the Scottish Rite.
